ASO's area now includes Umm Qasr. Arch- I guess they had Saddam's birthday parades down this road. Base- There's an Iraqi Navy. I saw it. It's small, but it's there. Bicycle- I wouldn't want to ride one of them while wearing a man dress. Boats- Ships coming in to port. British patrol- Everyone wants to keep Umm Qasr safe. Building- these are all shots of the same building. 1-3 are from the back, 4-6 are from the front. It looks like a garage that people live in now. Car- It looks like they saw a friend and stopped to say hi. Cemetary- I think that's what it is. Construction- They don't build 'em to last, but sometimes they get around to rebuilding. Crane- Pretty impressive. It looks like they still work, too. Crane part- It was just sitting there. I couldn't make any sense of it. I'm used to that. Duty free shop- There was nothing inside, but outside someone was sitting in the door of an open conex and running a small store out of it. It was just like the normal roadside store, but in the port. I haven't seen anythin that looks like taxes get collected on anything, so I don't much see the point of a duty free store. Fire station- I couldn't believe it, then I remembered that I was in the port, not the town. Garage- It's an independent store, not a Mr. Lube franchise. Guys- Are they campaign posters? Wanted posters? Is the last one a band? I don't know. Gym- Yes, that's a basketball court in front of the Olympic Arena. Herding- Right downtown. It's too blurry to tell if it's sheep or goats. House- A couple houses that had their neighborhoods taken away from them. Kids- All over the place. The building in 8 and 9 looks like the school. Office- There's apparently a shipping company still operating here. Port building- It looks like silos. I don't know. Ships- Tied up at the port. Sign- Probably guys who couldn't afford their own murals at prominent intersections. Stores- The only one with a building is the only one not open. Maybe because of their construction methods here, the locals prefer to shop in flimsy shacks that won't injure them when they collapse. Streets- Cruising through Umm Qasr. It makes Safwan look good. Street sign- Let's see those kids try stealing this one! Strip Mall- Maybe it'll work. Water- The shipping channel.
